Halawa or Halva is a Mediterranean version of fudge: A sweet confection popular throughout the Eastern Mediterranean, made from nuts or wheat (in our case, sesame), cream, and honey, sugar or splenda as a sweetener.

We stock a variety of different sesame halvas from Greece, Lebanon, Turkey and Syria made primarily from sweetened tahini (sesame paste) and cream. Some of our halvas are plain, and some come marbled with either pistachios or chocolate. Halva is often eaten wrapped in pita bread to cut the sweetness slightly — but it works equally well as an absolutely decadent topping on ice cream!
