Baklawa is a sweet and buttery baked pastry made with layers of delicate filo dough, filled with chopped nuts, and topped with a sweet syrup lightly scented with orange blossoms. This mouth-watering pastry was born hundreds of years ago in the imperial kitchens of Topkapi Palace in Istanbul and is today a traditional dessert found throughout the Eastern Mediterranean and Central Asia.
